Do you know someone who is LDS (Mormon)?  They are typically very respectful, moral and kind people who say they believe in Jesus. But when you really look into what the believe it is not Biblical Christianity. Many times Mormons have the same vocabulary as a Christian but a different dictionary. In this small sized quad-fold gospel tract, it clearly spells out how a person is made righteous by faith not works. It explains what biblical grace is. And it lays out the Jesus of the Bible vs the Jesus from the book of Mormon. The Mormon Jesus cannot save because its a different Jesus. Maybe LDS have come to your door but you felt intimidated not knowing what to say.  Please use this tract to prepare yourself to share the gospel of grace clearly to an LDS member.

Dear LDS Member,

Are you Righteous?

Jesus said “Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect”. If you read all the sermon on the mount (Matt. 5-7) you will see that Jesus is showing us that God’s law is perfect and that nobody can perfectly obey it. James 2:10 says “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.” How have you done with obeying the 10 commandments? You eve lied, stolen, or coveted anything? Jesus said if you look with sexual lust you commit adultery in your heart. And if you have anger towards another you commit murder in your heart. “None is righteous, no not one… all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Everyone is guilty and deserving of hell. Obeying the law can never make you right with God. That’s why Paul said “But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.” You can only be made righteous by trusting in Jesus and then He imputes His righteousness to you. “God made Him (Jesus) who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21) Are you righteous?

What is grace?

Many people love the song “amazing grace” which says “amazing grace how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me.” But what does grace mean? The biblical definition of grace is ‘unmerited, unearned favor (or gift) for sinners who deserve punishment.’ The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8,9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast.” A person cannot be saved from going to hell by doing any “good deeds” no matter how spiritual they seem. Salvation is a free gift bought with Christ’s blood. Now in the book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 25:23 says “we are saved by grace after all that we can do”. But that verse contradicts the prior verse we just read. Ephesians 2 says salvation “… is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” Salvation is a free undeserving gift we can never earn but must be received by faith alone. Jesus didn’t do most of the work for our salvation and we “need to do the rest.” Jesus did ALL of the work for us and that’s why Jesus said on the cross “It is finished”. Meaning paid in full! Paul said “I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” (Galatians 2:21) Have you received the undeserving gift of God’s grace to save you?

Faith and Works

Now, when James says “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” (James 2:17 KJV)” James is talking about a dead faith. If someone say’s they believe but their actions continually contradict their belief, then they have a dead faith. Our actions always follow our beliefs. That’s why James goes on to say “Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.” In Genesis 15 Abraham was made righteous ONLY by his faith (no works) and this was BEFORE circumcision and BEOFRE the law of God was even given. Then years later in Genesis 22 we see that Abraham’s faith was genuine because his works (offering Issac) validated the faith that he had years earlier (Gen.15). Salvation is like a tree. Faith ALONE is the root (Start) of a person’s salvation. Romans 5:1 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”. Then works or good deeds are the fruit (evidence) of a person’s salvation. (Galatians 5:22,23). Have you trusted in Jesus ALONE for salvation?

Who is Jesus?

The Mormon doctrine about Jesus say’s “as man is God once was, and as God is, so we may become.” Mormons also teach that Jesus and Satan were spirit brothers. According to the bible these statements are simply not true. Jesus has always eternally existed as God’s son and is the creator of all things (Colossians 1:15-20; John 1:1-3, Hebrews 1:1-3). Jesus took on the form of a man while still being fully God (Colossians 1:19;2:9) and died on the cross for the sins of the world and resurrected in a physical body on the third day. God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit, all three have eternally existed as one God. There is only one God and no one can ever become a god. “Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me… I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God. and apart from me there is no savior.” (Isaiah 43:10; 44:6). Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus?

The True Gospel

Paul said “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:8)” Joseph Smith said he had the Angel Moroni visit him and tell him the true gospel. But the book of Mormon’s gospel contradicts the Biblical gospel. The Mormon gospel is a false gospel. I know you may have deep ties to your family and being raised in the Mormon church. I know this may be hard to hear but it’s the truth that sets you free. Because I care about you I want tell you the truth.

This is how you become born again and get saved from going to hell :

 1) Repent (turn away from) your sin and any pride of trying to earn salvation by doing works and stop following Joseph Smith

2) Trust in Jesus alone (no good deeds can saved).

I encourage you to read the New Testament and start attending a church that teaches the Bible.
