Why Gospel Tracts?
For many Christians, evangelism is very terrifying and daunting. Rather than seeing sharing the gospel as horrifying, we need a change of perspective and priorities on what really matters. Every two seconds another person ends up in eternity. Heaven and hell lie in the balance and Jesus has entrusted us to be His messengers to get the good news out to everyone.
One of the hardest things in evangelism is to get the conversation going from the simple conversations about the weather and sports to Jesus Christ and salvation. Gospel tracts are a very effective way to do that. After engaging with a co-worker, stranger, friend or family member, you can simply say "Would you like a message of God's love for you?" And then they may ask "What is this?" Now the conversation has swung from the simple to the spiritual. Romans 1:16 says " I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes...". So whether we speak the gospel or its read on a piece of paper like a tract, it has supernatural power to save the sinner. You can give them out at grocery stores, college campuses, gas stations, neighborhoods, literally anywhere and everywhere.
A true story about the power of tracts is a man was once scuba diving and found a piece of paper in the sand at the bottom of the ocean. He brought it up to the surface and realized it was a gospel tract. He read it got saved right then and there! He went around the world sharing his testimony declaring that "God literally chased me to the bottom of the ocean and saved my life!".
We as followers of Christ are all called to "do the work of an evangelist" and obey the great commission to "share the gospel with all creation". The power is in message (the gospel) not the messenger (you). We would never want anyone to end up in hell forever, so lets get the good news out now so they too can experience eternal life like we do!
