Do you know someone who is Jewish? They are God's chosen people through whom the Messiah came from! If you don't know what to say or how to start a conversation this tract will help you effectively share the gospel to the Jewish community. Many Jews have a respect and fear of God but do not believe that Jesus is the Messiah. This trifold tract specifically spells out how from the Old Testament that Jesus fulfilled many prophecies when He came to earth. Jesus is also symbolized in the Old Testament as see in the blood sacrifices and the Passover. Let's pray for Israel and for its people to be saved!

Dear Jew,

I am so thankful for Moses and the prophets who shared the Word of God found in your Bible. Abraham was a messenger of God through whom He would establish His chosen people, the Jews. I would like to share with you about Abraham, Moses, and the Messiah.

Abraham

First, when God spoke to Abraham in the book of Genesis chapter 15 it says, “He took him outside and said, ‘Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them’”. Then He said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness.” Notice how Abraham simply believed God’s Word and his faith in God made him righteous. Abraham did not do any good deeds or even try to keep the law of God. The law of God wasn’t even introduced until many years later with Moses. Also, Abraham was righteous only by his faith in God even before circumcision was instituted. Abraham was righteous only by faith even before he ever offered His son Isaac as a sacrifice. Abraham did not do any good deeds to become righteous but only had Faith in God and that is what made him righteous. Habakkuk the prophet says “the righteous shall live by his faith.”

Moses

Next, Moses was God’s leader who led His people out of slavery from Egypt. Moses was given the moral Law of God on mount Sinai, the 10 commandments (Exodus 20). God’s law explains what is right and wrong. Now, when you look at the commandments, how have you done by obeying them? How many lies have you told in your life? Have you ever stolen anything regardless of its value? Have you always honored and obeyed your parents? The greatest commandment is “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” Have you loved God everyday with all of your heart? Another commandment is “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Have you always loved your neighbor as yourself? No matter how hard we try to be good the truth is everyone has sinned against God by not obeying His commandments. We can never be righteous by our deeds. Psalms 53 says “there is none who does good, not even one.” Ezekiel 18 says “the soul who sins shall die.” If God judged you by the 10 commandments when you die, you would be guilty like all of us. Guilty sinners deserve justice and end up in hell.

Who is the Messiah?

The prophet Isaiah in chapter 53 spoke on the Messiah being a suffering servant “But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah was prophesying here about Jesus of Nazareth (Yeshua). Jesus was pierced for our sins, and He took our punishment on Himself when He died on a Roman cross 2000 years ago. Just as the Jews used to offer a lamb without blemish as a sacrifice for sin, Jesus is the sinless Lamb of God who took away the sin of the world when He shed his blood on the cross. In Psalm 22 David says, “they pierce my hands and my feet” referring to the crucifixion of Christ. In reference to Passover, the Israelites needed the blood of a lamb on the doorposts of their house so that death could Passover them. In a similar way, people need the blood of Jesus on the doorposts of their hearts so that spiritual death (going to hell) will Passover them. Jesus rose from the dead on the third day proving He is the Messiah. King David spoke of this in Psalm 16 which says “For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption.” God loves you and wants a relationship with you. Romans 5:8 says “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son (Jesus), that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

What Should You do?

Jesus is the Messiah who comes from the lineage of Abraham and David, being born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2) of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14) that died for sinners (Isaiah 53). Being a good person or even being Jewish cannot make your life right with God and get you into heaven. Here is how to get right with God, having your sins forgiven:

1) Repent (confess and leave your sins). Ezekiel the prophet said, “Repent and live!”

2) Put your Faith (trust) in Jesus as your Messiah and savior. Just as Abraham was righteous by faith, so also you must have faith in the Messiah, Jesus, to save you from your sins and give you eternal life.

Start reading the New Testament to grow in your relationship with God through Jesus. Shalom!
